| Since 1 July 2003, all devices and protective systems that are to be used in situations where there is risk of an explosion must conform to the new Directive 94/9/EC (ATEX 95). On the basis of this Directive, the European Community has formulated consistent and universally binding requirements for product quality, installation and maintenance with reference to the protection of systems, devices and components against explosion. In view of the varying conditions in the different countries of the world, this results in a series of changes for the manufacturers of systems and machines and for their customers.
