This form of identification does not take place optically, but rather inductively; data carriers are used as transponders. Advantages are the use in dirty, rough industrial environments, the functionality of the system even without line-of-sight contact and the reloading of data during the process (e.g., for process control). Depending on range, HF (13.56 MHz) or UHF (868 MHz) is used.
