The MSI does not work (i.e. no LEDs are lit up).
- Check the supply voltage at terminal 4 (+24V) and terminal 9 (0V).
The system is not enabled when the start button is pressed and then released (i.e. the LEDs for locked, state and fault light up).
- Are the LEDs S1 & S2 on the MSI lit up green?
If the above LEDs are lit up green, the optoelectronic protective devices (AOPDs) are correctly wired.
If not, please have regard to the following points.
- Make sure that the optoelectronic protective devices are properly aligned.
- Check the wiring between the AOPDs and the MSI.
Have you connected all remaining safety inputs with the corresponding test signal by means of bridges?
- Check the operating mode you have selected (with/without restart interlock, with/without relay monitoring) with the required cabling at terminal 13,14 of the MSI and the corresponding DIP switch setting. e.g.
- Operating mode with start/restart interlock and static relay monitoring.
- Terminal 13 via start button to +24V (no test bridge).
- Terminal 14 via feedback contacts from K1 and K2 to 0V.
- DIP switches DS3 down, DS2 up.
- If the above LEDs are green and the system is not enabled
Check if the interface is awaiting an interruption after the start button has been pressed and released.
If the LED "locked" on the MSI blinks 1x -> wait for 1 cycle (interrupt 1x)
If the LED "locked" on the MSI blinks 2x -> wait for 2 cycles (interrupt 2x)
- Check the wiring:
- Terminal 21 with 0V -> guard operation
- Terminal 21 with terminal 15 -> single break
- K- Terminal 21 with +24V -> double break
- Terminal 20 with normally closed contact to +24V (machine cycle) -> control input
- cycle clearance (clear)
- Check whether the time monitoring is activated
- Please note that Category 2 light curtains (e.g. ECO) in cyclical operation can only be operated at S1.
- Please be aware that the start signal (+24V to terminal13) must be connected with zero voltage by way of a push-button switch or a relay.
Information on the LED Indicators
- The other LEDs indicate the operating state of the MSI. Please read the descriptions located in Section 3.4 of the operating instructions (pp. 14-15).
Using the Diagnostics Software
- Install the software on your PC/laptop.
- Required operating system: Windows 3.1 or higher.
- Start the MSI or apply supply voltage.
- Start up the software.
- Connect the PC with the MSI using the diagnostics cable.
- Click on Start in the Data Transmission menu.
- The MSI software automatically recognizes which type of MSI is being operated.
