Notes
Multiple light beam safety device is an electro-sensitive protecting device (ESPD Type 2) only in connection with a safety-relevant control system where the cyclical testing of transmitter and receiver according to EN-/IEC 61496-1 takes place. Such as the modular interfaces of the MSI family. The external power supply must certain the supply voltage variations and interruptions according to the regulations EN-/IEC 61496-1.

Testing:
In operating mode activating input on the transmitter is set to "highly active" (+ 24 V DC). For the test the input is switched off for a short time ( 2 V, at least 10 ms). Receiver also switches itself off for a short time. The function test is then analyzed in the monitoring unit. An additional advantage of this method is the monitoring of the pilot circuit to the transmitter and of the output circuit of the receiver.
