The RS4 safety surface scanner is an active opto-electronic protective device or AOPD of type 3 as defined by EN/IEC61496-1 and (pr)EN/IEC61496-3.
The PROFIsafe adapter is an accessory to the RS4 which serves for the safe connection of the device to PROFIBUS-DP.
