> Stuart Bauder, Corporate Marketing intern

After a year of volunteering in the social sector, an internship in the cultural sector and a bachelor's degree with a focus on Romance studies and business administration, I just wanted to do another internship in the industrial sector so that I could focus more specifically on my master's degree than I did with my bachelor's degree. It turned out differently in the end. But let me start from the beginning:

When I was looking for an internship, Leuze offered me the opportunity to work in an international company in my Swabian homeland and support the Corporate Marketing department there. I really wanted to work for an international company, but I also wanted to learn about a wide variety of aspects and be able to grasp the company as a whole. Because I do not have any technical training, initially it was difficult for me to understand what Leuze’s products are used for (that has certainly changed!).

In Corporate Communications, I initially supported my colleagues with the planning of events, and I organized smaller ‘employer branding’ projects myself, which I really enjoyed. Over time I was assigned more and more projects, so that my six-months internship flew by in no time. What I liked the most was the working atmosphere and the culture of the Sensor People: hard-working, helpful and uncomplicated Swabians who are familiar with their customers’ products, applications and industries and develop innovative sensor solutions for the whole world from ‘unter der Teck’.

After my internship I wanted to start a master’s program, but Leuze offered me a job in international distributors management, which I simply could not refuse. Besides the actual work that the job entails, I enjoyed working at Leuze so much that I have put the master’s degree on the back burner for now. That was absolutely the right decision. Now, I am getting my master’s degree in Strategic Sales Management part-time, which allows me to combine my work and studies at Leuze.

The company is constantly growing, which is both challenging and a privilege. You can learn a lot and help shape the trajectory.

> Sabrina Bohnacker, student employee in International Distribution Management

After my internship semester in health management, I was looking for an exciting and challenging student position in the Stuttgart area. The position in international distributor management at Leuze was especially appealing to me. The interview was very laid back. And shortly thereafter I was accepted and very excited to get started! Not least because the position allowed me to use my prior experience in sales and at the same time enabled me to learn more about market analysis.

The on-boarding process at Leuze is tops. The introduction was tailored to me and the most important areas of the company were presented in a short presentation. The manager of my department also personally took the time to explain his day-to-day job to me. I could tell that he was very much appreciative of me as a working student.
My tasks were very varied during my time at Leuze. I was primarily responsible for market research and potential-analyses of various countries, such as Canada or South Africa. This included not only industry-related topics, but also general topics such as the economical development or infrastructure of a country. My job also included organizational support for visits by business delegations. I particularly enjoyed working with the international teams – whenever I got stuck my colleagues were right there to help and advise me.
Unfortunately, my time at Leuze ended when my study program ended, because I needed a job in the Ulm region. My new job is in Sales & Marketing at a medium-sized electrical appliance manufacturer. Part of the reason why they hired me was my prior experience at Leuze in market analysis.

> Nina Frieß, Corporate Marketing intern and student employee

I found Leuze when I was looking for an internship for my internship semester. This was due when I was in the fourth semester of my studies at Nürtingen University. I applied both with the HR and the Marketing department. The Marketing department invited me to an interview not long after, which went so well that it only reinforced my decision for Leuze.
Before starting my internship semester at Leuze, I was very curious to see to what extent the theory I had learned during my studies would correspond to the practical day-to-day work. I really wanted to gain as many experiences and impressions as possible from a medium-sized company during these six months.
And because the Marketing department offers a wide variety of tasks, I was looking forward to interesting and challenging activities as well as taking on responsibility. It was also important for me to understand the processes within the department and the internal and external interfaces once I completed my internship.
Among other things, I organized the company health day in Owen and Germering, a charity run and the summer party during my internship semester. In addition, I was allowed to help with the relaunch of the "Smart Sensor Business" theme in one of the four newly shot image films. This is where I got to know many new colleagues, and I also learned how elaborate the preparations and how extensive the efforts are for a short video. During my time as a working student I supported the online shop campaigns and also helped with the website relaunch.
I particularly enjoyed the friendly, helpful and supportive collaboration with my colleagues throughout my time at Leuze. In addition to department barbecues, trainee and student excursions, summer parties and Christmas parties, I had the opportunity to meet many colleagues at the trade fair in Nuremberg. I loved the flexible working hours, which enabled me to also support the marketing team for a few hours a week during the lecture period. My tasks were very varied, there was never a shortage of challenges for me to prove my skills in the marketing field.
After six months of internship and one and a half years of working as a student employee, I was due to write my bachelor's thesis, which I also completed at Leuze.

> Stefanie Rieß, Corporate Communications internship

There are plenty of stereotypes out there of interns making coffee or photocopies all day. But that was never the case for me. Quite the opposite. I was always supported, I learned a lot and I became part of the Sensor People family.

As a Corporate Communications intern I worked for six months at headquarters in Owen/Teck. Communication, i.e. what language can express and achieve, is one of the most exciting topics for me, period. That is why I wanted to broaden my horizon and theoretical skills in practice after completing my Bachelor's degree in International Literature and English Studies at the University of Tübingen. I wanted to gain experience and learn more about working in the field through an internship in press relations and corporate communications.

My responsibilities ranged from internal to international tasks. I was largely focused on internal communications, but also press relations, such as press newsletters, press releases or the organization of PR in the international subsidiaries. Part of my responsibilities included smaller and larger writing projects. For example, a report on the roll-out of a Formula Student race car by DHBW Stuttgart, or a report on a chicken pen flap controlled fully automatically with sensor technology. Sponsorships were another major aspect of my internship – from attending sponsor meetings to finalizing and organizing sponsorship projects, as well as internal and external reporting.
The friendly and productive working atmosphere, the diverse and varied work, and the flexible working hours made the job particularly enjoyable, as did the appreciation for the work itself. Even as an intern you are part of the Sensor People, and coffee breaks by team always offered an opportunity to foster the team spirit.

> Tobias Strohm, bachelor’s thesis in Market Intelligence

I studied business administration and management at Heilbronn University. For my last semester, I wanted to find a company close to home where I could write my bachelor’s thesis. That is how I came across Leuze, where a bachelor thesis on the subject of "Analysis of the global intralogistics market for optical sensors" was open. The application process went very well. After submitting my application, I was invited to an interview within a week. The interview took place in a pleasant atmosphere, which is why I didn’t hesitate to take the position.

In terms of writing my bachelor’s thesis, it was particularly important to me that the company would provide good support and flexibility in terms of working hours. Now that I’m done with my bachelor thesis, I can say that my expectations were fully met. My supervisors gave me weekly feedback and supported me with my questions. I also liked the fact that not only the colleagues at the company headquarters were available to answer my questions, but also employees from other locations. I was also allowed to write from home. What stood out to me was the very friendly atmosphere, which is why I wouldn’t hesitate to write a thesis at Leuze again.
