Detecting various plates at high speeds on a roller conveyor
Description
Plates on the roller conveyor must be detected by a sensor mounted underneath. The distance between the rollers is less than 10 mm. The plates have a wide range of colors and shadowing and, in some cases, have a width of just 10 cm at a speed of more than 1m/s. Detection is to take place with the sensor positioned at a slant. The end user originally requested that ultrasonic sensors be used. It was, however, determined that these sensors are too slow at such speeds. An optical scanner was therefore chosen instead.
Solution
The HRT 46B diffuse reflection light scanner is used. With this, the plates can be precisely positioned in spite of the range of colors and high speeds of the plates. Compared to the planned ultrasonic sensors, this is thus a more suitable solution.
