The new DCR 300i camera-based code reader from Leuze speeds up intralogistics conveyor systems: It can be quickly integrated and reliably reads 1D and 2D codes even at high conveyor speeds.

Owen, November 6, 2026 – Modern intralogistics is becoming faster and more compact. Conveyor lines are getting closer together, speeds are increasing, and systems are becoming denser and more powerful. Leuze’s new camera-based DCR 300i code reader meets these requirements: It reliably reads 1D barcodes and 2D codes on containers, trays, cartons, and pallets, even with high material throughput and in demanding environments. Users benefit from its compact design and straightforward integration into existing or new systems. The DCR 300i combines fast integration and commissioning with powerful code reading.

Quick Start to Reading Mode
The Sensor People at Leuze have equipped the DCR 300i with defined and guaranteed read field curves. This allows it to be positioned correctly as early as the planning phase of a system project, without the need for a reference or live image. With a depth of just 45 millimeters, the code reader fits even into confined installation spaces between adjacent conveyor lines. The integrated polarization filter reduces disruptive reflections and allows the DCR 300i to be mounted parallel to the conveyor system. Another strength of the DCR 300i is its zero-distance technology: Codes are captured directly from the front window. However, longer working distances of up to 670 millimeters are also possible. A browser-based, multilingual webConfig tool and a color touchscreen display facilitate intuitive installation and operation of the barcode reader.

Seamlessly networked
When it comes to connections, plant operators can choose between pre-assembled M12 connectors or custom wiring. Parameterization and monitoring are performed via the programmable logic controller (PLC) and the system’s familiar engineering environment. No additional software or training is required. An external parameter memory saves all of the sensor’s device settings in the Connection technology. This ensures that the parameters are retained even when the reader is replaced and are automatically transferred to the replacement device. This significantly shortens service and maintenance processes. The integrated Industrial Ethernet connectivity supports the common communication standards PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, and TCP/IP. Thanks to its Ethernet switch, the code reader can also be easily integrated into line, star, or tree-shaped network topologies. For users, the DCR 300i is a future-proof solution: The built-in security features ensure compliance with current regulatory requirements, such as those of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).

Small sensor, wide range of functions
During operation, the DCR 300i uses Dual Core Decoding (DCD) to decode up to two codes simultaneously. This makes it ideal for high-speed conveyor systems with short cycle times. Thanks to a patented exposure time limiter, the DCR 300i automatically adjusts its illumination intensity from image to image. It produces a high-contrast, optimally exposed image across the entire reading field—regardless of varying surfaces, environmental conditions, or object positions. Even inkjet codes are no problem thanks to specially optimized decoding algorithms. If needed, the DCR 300i is available with housing and lens heating, allowing it to be used even in deep-freeze environments down to -30 °C (-22° F) or in applications with heavy condensation.
