Optical data transmission

Optical data transmission
Data within a network is transferred in different ways. Optical data transmission photoelectric sensors use the "air" medium to transfer data invisibly, contact-free and free from wear over a distance of up to 500 m. This is a leading technology in plant engineering and combines efficiency with cost effectiveness.
DDLS 500
Optical data transceiver with integrated web server for remote diagnostics
Optical data transceivers are the right choice for any application where data needs to be transmitted without cables and without interference. They enable contact-free communication wherever mechanical and WLAN systems are pushed to their limits.
The DDLS 500 optical data transmission photoelectric sensor enables the transparent, contact- and wear-free transmission of data over distances of up to 200 m in 100 Mbit/s real-time. To this end, an invisible, infrared laser communicates bi-directionally between the devices. Additional functions simplify handling of the devices. With the aid of the laser alignment aid and the integrated level, alignment is very simple, even over longer paths. Unique worldwide, the web server integrated in the DDLS 500 enables remote diagnostics. Furthermore, the DDLS 500 can be detected as a PROFINET participant.
Advantages for you
- Transparent real-time data transmission: With 100 Mbit/s, all common Ethernet protocols can be transmitted with minimal time delay.
- Integrated connectivity: Worldwide access to all diagnostic data via an integrated web server. Transfer of diagnostic data to the control (PROFINET).
- Combine functions yourself: The modular design allows the base model to be freely expanded with the available functions: operating range, laser alignment aid, heating and web server.
- Simple mounting and alignment: The laser alignment aid, the spirit level and the integrated mounting plate with alignment screws make mounting and alignment extremely easy.
- Continuous monitoring of the received signal level: Enables the user to be alerted in good time to an impending failure (e.g. as a result of excessive soiling).
Applications

Optical data transmission for stacker cranes
Requirement
Optical transmission is used to transfer data wirelessly to the stacker crane or load receptacle. The transmission rate must be up to 100 Mbit/s.
Solution
The DDSL 500 data transmission photoelectric sensor comes with all common industrial fieldbus interfaces and is therefore easy to integrate into the system. Transmission rates of up to 100 Mbit/s and operating ranges of up to 500 m offer full flexibility for all situations in intralogistics.

Optical data transmission up to 100 Mbit/s
Requirement
Data must be transmitted wirelessly from Ethernet-based fieldbuses such as PROFINET, EtherCAT and Ethernet TCP/IP to the gantry crane or trolley at a transmission rate of up to 100 Mbit/s.
Solution
The DDLS 500 data transmission photoelectric sensor with industrial Ethernet interfaces transmits data at a rate of up to 100 Mbit/s. The devices are particularly easy to align using the alignment laser and the pre-mounted mounting plate. The integrated web server ensures fast and location-independent remote diagnostics.

Data transmission in conveyor systems – transfer cars of all types
Requirement
The integration of transfer cars into existing industrial system communication networks without disruptive cable connections and in real time is a high requirement.
Solution
The DDLS 500 series’ optical data transmission fulfills these requirements with a transmission rate of 100 Mbit/s up to an operating range of 200 m.

Application in electroplating – gantry systems
Requirement
In galvanizing plants, several hangers moving one behind the other must be connected in parallel to a central master computer in a very confined space.
Solution
With DDLS 500 optical data transmission, parallel transmission lines can be decoupled in such a way that mutual crosstalk is excluded.
