Robust version for industrial use

Hand-held scanners in especially robust design for reading arbitrary codes are very well suited for use in rough or contamination-susceptible industrial environments or in rooms with temperatures between -20°C and +50°C (wireless) or -30°C and +50°C (cable-connected). Though their high degree of protection, the devices are especially well protected against contamination and against impacts and falls. Connection possibilities to various fieldbuses and industrial Ethernet using optional MA 200 connection unit. Time-saving and simple configuration of the devices possible by means of configuration codes or software.

IT 2100 and IT 2105 industrial hand-held scanners

Improved housing materials and imager for the IT 2100 industrial hand-held scanner series expand application options

For demanding industrial environments, e.g. in assembly processes, robust housing is required to protect mobile code readers against dirt and drops. Large reading fields cover a wide range of applications. The advanced IT 2100 series from Leuze with improved, more ergonomic housing and higher optics protection optimally meets these requirements. It particularly stands out for its very high IP 68 protection class (scanner), large drop heights of 3 m and a very wide temperature range down to -30°C. With up to 45% faster decoding and a higher protection class, it will replace the tried-and-tested IT 1990 series robust hand-held scanners. To make the transition as easy as possible, proven features have been retained while implementing comprehensive improvements – including cable variety, power supply connection, configuration options and mounting holes.

A particularly noteworthy feature of the new devices is their large reading field, which allows objects and papers stored at standard intervals to be easily captured using just one optic. The new base station (wireless version) now complies with protection class IP 65 thanks to an additional O-ring and plug. When used in vibrating environments, e.g. on a forklift truck, the new base station offers additional fastenings to prevent the mobile scanner from falling out. The devices are available in wired or wireless (battery) versions for different applications. To make ordering easier, sets are also available in addition to the individual components.

Advantages for you

  • Even more robust, including in damp environments, thanks to higher protection class IP 65 and IP 68
  • Up to 45% faster reading processes significantly reduce detection time per scan
  • Large tested drop height, even at sub-zero temperatures
  • New mounting bracket with device fixings for vibrating environments and sealing ring up to IP 65
  • Easy to use thanks to green LED aimer with target point, as well as flat white light illumination and a variety of interfaces from PS/2, USB to RS232 and Bluetooth

Highlights

Highlight1_Schutzart IP 68

Higher protection class IP 68

In environments with high humidity or splash water, the IT 2100 scores points with its enhanced protection class: With IP 68 for the handset/scanner and up to IP 65 for the new base station with additional O-ring and plug.

Highlight2_Effizienzsteigerung

Increased efficiency through faster code reading

Decoding speeds up to 45% faster contribute to increased efficiency in your process.

Large drop height

In addition to the maximum drop height, tests are also carried out to ensure that the devices can reliably withstand falls at sub-zero temperatures, e.g. at
 -20 °C.

Application

APIC_AT_L3_handheld_scanner_Powertrain_Battery_wl_15cm_300dpi_700x500px

Code reading for batch tracking

Requirement:
The order and batch are to be detected at the start of battery production and stored for further processing. To do this, the processing steps and all relevant components are to be identified using a bar code.

Solution:
Mobile code readers are well suited for detecting orders and batches. Wireless models like the
IT 2105 make operation easy and comfortable. Depending on the control concept, they are connected directly to a PC or – for integration via common fieldbus and Ethernet interfaces – to the MA 200i modular connection unit.

Detection of order data in production

Requirement:
During the processing of customer and production orders, 1D- or 2D-codes must be read on the corresponding order papers for each order to detect and assign individual orders, even in partially dirty environments.

Solution:
The IT 147xg mobile code readers detect all commonly printed 1D- and 2D-codes. The particularly ergonomic housing design protects the user during continuous use. The IT 210x are especially resistant to contamination such as oils or cleaning agents. The robust devices also withstand impacts or falling onto the floor.

Code reading for component traceability

Requirement:
Many components must be assembled before a combustion engine is complete. For the traceability of relevant parts, the DPM codes (direct part mark) must be detected at each process step. The codes must be read quickly and reliably, even on surfaces with oily residues.

Solution:
The robust IT 210x and HS 66x8 hand-held scanners decode 2D DPM codes and can withstand knocks or drops. They are easily incorporated in the respective control concept via the integrated USB and RS 232 interface or – for common fieldbus / Ethernet interfaces – using the MA 200i modular connection unit.
