All stainless steel sensors

This category includes sensors featuring Ecolab and protection classes IP 68 and IP 69K – suitable for food and beverage processing. Available as a particularly robust all-stainless-steel version with a one-piece housing up to 1 mm thick for high pressure resistance up to 100 bar, or as a version in an AISI 316L stainless steel sleeve, a PPS front and a wide temperature range. Further universal versions are also available for scanning ranges with various metals in the process with reduction factor 1.

Wide range of inductive sensors in stainless steel

All-stainless-steel sensors are used wherever the highest standards of robustness, hygiene and durability are required. Thanks to their tough housing, they are particularly well suited to demanding applications in the food, pharmaceutical and packaging industries. At the same time, they offer a high level of process reliability and a long service life, even in harsh environmental conditions.

The inductive stainless steel sensors with a PPS front or in an all-stainless-steel version are ideal for use in food production and are ECOLAB-certified. They are available in cylindrical designs from M8 to M30 and are available with NC, NO or antivalent outputs in both embedded and non-embedded versions.

These inductive sensors thus offer a particularly cost-effective yet robust solution for demanding applications.

Advantages for you

  • Stainless steel with PPS
  • Washdown (15 mins at 100°C), temperature range from -40°C to +80°C
  • Highly robust against moisture, dust (IP68/IP69K), corrosive liquids and vibration
  • Antivalent types mean fewer variants are required
  • Excellent value for money

Highlights

For a wide range of applications, versions with a stainless steel sleeve and a PPS front offer attractive solutions for tackling demanding metal detection tasks. The portfolio includes cylindrical designs from M8 to M30.

This offers users a number of benefits: Depending on the application requirements, besides all-stainless-steel versions, there are now also cost-effective variants available with a stainless-steel sleeve and a PPS front – both made from AISI 316L and therefore suitable for use in the food and beverage industry.

Advantages of the stainless steel sleeve:

  • Mechanical durability: The one-piece stainless steel sleeve makes the sensor resistant to heavy impacts, shocks and vibrations, which is particularly important in areas subject to high mechanical stress.
  • Enhanced protection: The sleeve protects the sensor from moisture and corrosive liquids such as cleaning agents, ensuring that it functions reliably even in dirty or damp environments.
  • Wide temperature range from -40 to +80°C , up to 100°C for short periods

Advantages of the all-stainless-steel version:

  • Hygiene: In the food and beverage industry or in the medical field, stainless steel is also hygienic and easy to clean.  In some cases, this requirement can already be met by using a stainless steel sleeve.
  • High pressure resistance up to 100 bar (depending on type) thanks to a robust stainless steel front
  • Use with different materials in demanding environments: Sensors in stainless steel sleeves are suitable for heavy-duty use in metal processing, welding or the chemical industry.

Application

APIC_IL_IS212_stacker-crane_final-position_wl_700x500px

Final position detection in deep-freeze warehouses

Requirement:
In deep-freeze warehouse operations, the stacker crane may only move once it has been verified that the load receptacle or fork is in its final position.
Solution:
The IS 208 and IS 212 series’ inductive sensors in stainless steel design are suitable for detecting metallic objects in this environment. By selecting the switching output, connection type, and operating range, they can be optimally adapted to the specific application.

Object detection on the cutting machine

Requirement:
In food processing, sausage or cheese is delivered in large bars and cut into thin slices in a cutting machine. The product in the machine feed must be reliably detected so that the gripper can push the material evenly towards the blade and all the cut slices have the required thickness.
Solution:
The IS 200 inductive stainless steel sensors in hygienic design monitor the product feed at the cutting machine. As soon as the feed’s metal is detected, the feed must be refilled or replaced or the feed stopped.

Detection of positions

Requirement:
Primary packaging is often stacked and fed in magazines. The position of these magazines or feeder fingers must be detected to prevent collisions and to control the feed.
Solution:
Inductive sensors detect the metal structures of the magazines reliably and precisely. With their small design and defined switching distances, sensor types IS 208 / IS 212 are particularly well-suited for this application.
